DIY Charcoal Face Mask

So if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter. Then you already know that this past weekend, the girls in my family went to an all ladies retreat. And during that weekend, they were having a spa, and the girls in my family helped run it.

And one of the things we offered the ladies was a face mask, but not just any face mask, but a charcoal face mask, which is one of my favorites, followed by a face massage.

The beautiful ladies there loved it, yay! And pretty much all of them asked me for the recipe, soo….like promised here it is!  Also a few asked me to start selling it, Insha’Allah I’ll get around to that if enough people are interested.

Also if any of you ladies from the retreat are reading this, ‘Salaams, and don’t feel shy to comment or email me!’

Okay so let’s get started!!!

Some Benefit of a Charcoal Face Mask: It ‘helps rid the skin of impurities, and toxin that’s clogging the pores, that creates blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, and things of that nature, while also exfoliating the skin and smoothing it out, and added a beautiful glow to the skin. If used regularly it can also help faded dark marks.

Another great thing about it is that it can also be used as a Face scrub, Body scrub, and not just a Face mask.

What you’ll need:
  • Activated Charcoal (has been used for many of things over the years, to help treat different types of toxins in the body, it acts like magnet that pulls out impurities in the body, things like dirt, oil that are in your pores, so when you wash it off the dirt comes with it. just to name a few) I get mine overseas (Doha, Qatar) but here are some links to get Activated Charcoal, that are pretty good to.
  1. Activated Charcoal Powder - 1 lb
  2. Hardwood Activated Charcoal Powder - 1lb
  • Aloe Vera Gel (I’m sure everyone knows a little something about it, but if not here are something’s it’s used for. Helps treat sunburn, acts as a moisturizer, treats acne, fights aging, lessens stretch marks, heals eczema, ect)
  1. The one I use, my mother also sell it! Aloe Vera
  • Vitamin E Oil (treats burns, scars, helps prevents skin cancer, treats stretch marks, eczema, and psoriasis, cold sores, moisturizers the skin, anti-aging, treats sunburn, cleans the skin, treats dark marks, and used as an under eye lighten, ect)
  1. Th one I use Sundown Vitamin E Oil
  • Essential Oil (Optional) I like Tea Tree in mine, my mother also sells oils
  • Air Tight Container (one thing I like to do is make enough that will last me for a week, as I try to do a face mask twice in that time. It will stay fresh for about a week or two if kept in the refrigerator, but I only make enough for week, as I like it when it’s fresher)
  • A Spoon (to mix everything up, also it’s better if you don’t just dig your finger into the container, as you don’t want to add any germs into your mask)
How to Make:
  • 2 teaspoons of Activated Charcoal (in powder form)
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons of Aloe Vera Gel (or mix in more until texture becomes almost paste like texture)
  • Add 4-7 drops of Vitamin E Oil (and mix)
How to Use: As a…
  1. Face Mask: Drop a small amount into the palm of your hand, and apply to the skin in circular up motion, and I downward motion on the neck, Let set for 10-15 minutes and rinse
  2. Face Scrub: Spoon a small amount into the palm of your hand, and apply to the skin in circular motion, and I downward motion on the neck, rinse off right way
  3. Body Scrub: Apply enough for your whole body into the palm of your hand, while in the shower, and apply to the skin in circular motion, let set for 5-10 minutes, and go about your shower

Side-noteIt might sting a little bit when on, but that's just it cleaning the pores, that feeling will go away the more you use it, also after a day or so you might see some pimples come to the surface, but no worries that's just the mask doing it's job and pulling out all the dirt and  impurities. you'll see and feel brand new in no time, and one of the things I love is that you know whats going on your face, and that's it's fresh!

And that’s it! Hopefully I covered everything, but if I didn't feel free to let me know, or if you just want to chat!

Peace and Love <3
