Ramadan Routine & Tips 2015



So if you’ve been reading my blog for longer than a year, then you already know what this post is all about, and how it’s going to go, but, if you’re a new reader then welcome!

For the past two years I’ve posted my Ramadan Routine; where I share some tips, and hopefully some helpfully information how to get the most out of your Ramadan, with still leaving some time for yourself.

Okay I’m going to jump right in!

But first always start off with making your intentions, and seeking Allah (swt) mercy.

My Ramadan Tips:
  • Set your Goals; ask yourself what you want to get out of this Ramadan! Break a bad habit, start a good habit, refresh your deen, going to the Masjid more, or start getting into the habit of eating better? Whatever it is, Ramadan is the time to do it! As I find during this time, Allah (swt) makes doing good so much easier then any other time of year, so we should always try to make the most of it, because we really don’t know if we’re going to make it to the next one.
  • Schedule; try making a tentative schedule of your day, this helps me with keeping on track of my goals, and staying focus and helps me get things done in a timely manner
  • Menu; in my family we always make a food menu, so we never have to think about what we’re making for Suhoor/Iftar, and it helps saves us time to do more important things.
  • Suhoor; there’s blessings in eating the suhoor, so try hard not to miss it, also try eating better food not more! it’s not about how much you eat, it’s about what you eat, getting a meal that’s has more protein, and that’s going to burn thought-out the day, is better in the longer run, then eating a big meal with tons of sugar, with little to no protein, that’s not going to really help.
  • Iftar; I find with us Muslim are eyes are always bigger then our stomach. So keep in mind after few days of fasting your stomach is going to shrink, and you won’t be able to eat as much, remembers is Sunnah to break your fast with dates, and water.
  • Water; is going to be your best friend, you’re going to want to drink lots of it, during the morning, and nights, to help keep your body hydrated.
  • Sleep; I know a lot of us are going to be up late, and up early praying, but remember your body has rights over you, so try to get sleep when you can, and  if  you can…  try sleeping between Dhuhr and Asr as it’s Sunnah
  • Exercise; try moving your workout session, an hour or two before Iftar (or however long you take, to workout)  leaving yourself time to shower, this way by the time you’re done, it’s time to break the fast ,a you can drink water (my brothers been doing this for years, and it works out a lot better than working out after Taraweeh)
  • Keeping Busy; by keep yourself busy with little lightweight tasks during the day, it helps to keep your mind off of the time.
  • Good Deeds; But most of all Read Qur’an, and Pray more, give Zakat, Smile, Help others, and increase in doing good deeds, as we all know Ramadan is full of blessing, and as I like to call it “a month full of double Jeopardy”


My Ramadan Routine:

Changes with the times, also praying when salat comes in lol…
  • Suhoor
  • Reading Qur’an until Fajr
  • Then back to sleep, until my normal wake up time
  • Hobbies comes after all my work, and Qur’an reading are done
  • Cooking, planning youth nights, swimming, or with friends depending on the day of the week
  • Exercise, & shower an hour and half before iftar
  • Iftar then right to the Masjid after
  • Home, then bed
Okay that’s pretty much how I plan on my Ramadan going Insha’Allah, but Allah (swt) knows best how it’s really going to happen, so I’m not worried. Hopefully this helped some, and if you have any questions, or just want to chat, please do!
